Collection: Joan Juncosa
Joan Juncosa (Móra la Nova, Tarragona, Spain, 1986) is an urban artist, architect, and cultural manager whose work lies at the intersection of public art, urban design, and social intervention. His artistic practice focuses on the transformation of urban space and the creation of participatory experiences that encourage reflection on collective memory, heritage, and citizen interaction.
An architect by training, Juncosa has established himself as a leading figure in contemporary urban art in Spain thanks to emblematic projects such as #BaldosasPorElMundo (Tiles Around the World), which reinterprets Barcelona's traditional hydraulic tiles to foster a global dialogue between art, citizens, and urban heritage. This project has transcended borders, involving participants from various countries and being exhibited internationally.
His work includes urban interventions with significant visual and symbolic impact, such as the artistic restoration of Modernist benches on Passeig de Gràcia using patches called Modernisme 2.0 , which combine creativity, social critique, and the appreciation of historical heritage. These initiatives reflect her interdisciplinary approach, integrating design, architecture, and public art. In addition to her artistic practice, Juncosa develops educational and cultural outreach projects, participating in workshops, conferences, and collaborations that aim to bring urban art and city design closer to diverse audiences. Her work has been presented in urban exhibitions and specialized galleries, solidifying her position as a leading voice in the contemporary landscape of urban art and sustainable urban design.
